WIS highly recommends getting a Stop The Bleed Kit if you don’t have one already. https://www.whatifsurvival.com/products/bleeding-control-kit
In our class, you will learn and practice:
• Scene safety
• How to use personal protective equipment
• How to identify life-threatening bleeding
• When, where & how to use a tourniquet, wound packing gauze, and chest seals
• How to apply tourniquets to yourself (including one-handed)
• How to effectively bandage difficult areas like the neck and armpit
• Why hypothermia is so dangerous for severely bleeding patients, even on a 100 degree day, and how to help prevent it
and more
You may be wondering, how is this different from a first aid class?
Many first aid courses cover bleeding control in a few PowerPoint slides, for a total of 10 to 15 minutes. At WIS, we wanted to challenge this norm by prioritizing the number one cause of preventable death by injury. That's why we dedicated an entire course to it, with 2-3 hours of training exclusively covering Stop The Bleed® principles.
In the words of the ancient Greek poet Archilochus, "we don’t rise to the level of our expectations; we fall to the level of our training.” This is what drives What if Survival. High quality training that will serve you when you need it most. It's also what we based our training on, and why we decided to include hands-on skill stations with multiple simulated wounds after the presentation phase of our class. We want our course to be applicable to real life situations, and one optional skill station we include is a simulated human wound developed into a bone-in, pork shoulder. This is one of the closest simulations to human anatomy available.
Class Location and Info
Our classrooms address is 22600-D Lambert St. Suite 1003 Lake Forest CA 92630 on the second floor. We are also available for corporate, jobsite, and team training. We can travel to your So Cal area for an additional $25 per student, out of state/country travel will be a custom price. Minimum class size for travel is 8 students. Additional charges apply for travel outside of the So Cal region.
Please wear clothes that can get dirty, fake blood and a pork shoulder wound packing skill station can get messy. This is why so many medical courses fail, they don’t try to make simulations (if done at all ) life like.
*PARTICIPANTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST HAVE PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN ATTEND WITH THEM.
